Our trusty Landy
Planning
Lots to prepare: Vehicle,Equipment,Paperwork,Medical etc. the lists pile up.
The vehicle: It has to be a Land Rover call me old fashioned but it just has to be.
Medical.
We are soon to tackle the innoculations and malaria treatment subject . Living in Spain at the moment we are unsure about the system,if we have to pay or where we get them. We just know that there will be lots of paperwork!!
August 7th
Had our consultation with the doctor and have all the jabs booked in the diary. Our travel doctor advised us against taking Malaria tablets for 6 months and to take drugs to treat ourselves if we get the sumptoms followed by blood tests and treatment at a clinic/hospital. The trick is of course not to get bitten...
So its going to be:-
Hep A. Hep B(3 jabs), Meningitis, Typhoid (tablets over 3 days), Yellow fever. Rabies ( 3 jabs).
Our Tetanus and polio are up to date.
The Rabies jab we were not sure about but the doctor convinced us that we should have it and luckily it wasn't painfull and we have had no side effects.
We will get Maldrone to teat ourselves if we suffer the effects of Malaria and are considering buying a Malaria test kit.
We have to pay for some of them but hopefully it will not be more than €120 each.
Thanks Paula for your help (Jefa de servicio de sanidid exterior Cartagena)
